Aviation is one of the fast-growing industries in the United States. People in the industry work in a variety of fields, including the pilot, air traffic control, and aircraft maintenance.

One job, in particular, is on the rise — that of aircraft mechanic.

Aircraft mechanics are tasked with maintaining airplanes. Unlike car mechanics, who work on cars, aircraft mechanics work on airplanes. Dubai Classifieds!!!

If you're interested in becoming an aircraft mechanic, there are several ways you can gain experience.

1. Volunteer. Volunteering as an aviation mechanic is a great way to learn about the job. Some organizations, such as Flying for Kids, pay volunteers to work on aircraft. Other organizations, like the Air Force ROTC, help pay for students' education.

2. Take college classes. Many community colleges and four-year universities offer classes on aircraft maintenance. These classes teach you the basic tools of the trade, such as how to use a torque wrench.

3. Join an apprenticeship program. Aircraft mechanic apprenticeship programs, such as IAM's Apprenticeship Program, are a great option for people who want experience in the field.

4. Get a job. If you have experience in the field, consider starting a job as an aviation mechanic. Some employers, such as United Airlines, offer paid apprenticeships. For entry-level positions, you might have to start as a mechanic's helper.

5. Become a mechanic. If you want to become a certified aircraft mechanic, you'll need to earn a certificate. The IAM offers professional certification programs for technicians. These certifications can help boost your salary and job prospects.

6. Get experience. The best way to learn is by doing. Try taking an entry-level job to get experience.
